Don’t you just love the look of stained glass? The intricate little colored prisms are so grounding and soothing to meditate upon.
That concept is the inspiration behind our newest design…Stained Glass chenille! A massive, irregularly cut and reverse appliqued Retrac rose graces the mid-front panel, while a highly elaborate medallion is slightly offset to add a hint of sophisticated elegance to the rear panel. The spread that panel was cut from was NOS with its original cardboard tag – not something you see too often anymore. Over time, the peekaboo rose has been designed to display a ragamuffin-type effect after repeated washings, like a wonderful old quilt 🙂
As you may recognize, both front panels feature the coveted minty Cabin Crafts overtufted plump wedding ring pops – and even the pops are in every so slight a shade of cool spearmint. Front facings are Morgan Jones double pop pistachio with lurex, and two intricately hand-crafted, chenille Hollyhock flower corsages pinned on add grace and glamour at the same time. I did some light blush speckling on the white sleeves to give this the same glow a stained glass window has when the sunlight shines through its prisms.
If you love the look of this stained glass robe but are wanting a more decadent, Victorian look, we’ve just listed another like this in a separate listing with a heavy focus on rich mauves and flecked burgundies.

All of our handcrafted chenille robes are designed to tell a story using one-of-a-kind textiles from long ago. As such, we incorporate natural age distressing and other “flaws” intentionally into the finished piece and do not specifically make note of them.
Rest assured, we select only premium quality fabrics in good to excellent vintage condition to use in our designs. Virtually all the chenille we work with is 100% cotton or less commonly, a softer cotton blend.
❃vintage items are never perfect – but they display their imperfections perfectly!
